Audrey Barnes Media produced this fundraising video to raise awareness of a new campaign to raise $3 million for a new Behavioral Health Unit at the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. It’s called “Together: Let’s Support our Neighborhood Hospital.” More than 250 adults and children a month are showing up for care at the Emergency Department at JHHCMC with a major mental illness or behavioral health issue. The problem is there are only 6 beds in the behavioral health unit (BHU) to evaluate them–leaving some sitting out in the emergency room for hours with non-psychiatric patients. Donations will be used to build a new 7,000 square foot, state of the art BHU with 24 beds. They hope to open in by December of 2024.
